...dreaming of greek bunting...

...ummmmm...this was a tuesday post...
...but you see i'm *home alone* with the bambinos this week...
...ritchie has flown the family coup & is in australia for the week...
{i don't know how he does it -3 days flying for 3 days of work!}

...& thats why i'm posting *tuesdays* thoughts on *wednesday* morning...
...i ummm...fell asleep...
...well i didn't fall asleep & leave the kids *watching endless tele*...or anything...
...i fell asleep putting the littlest to bed, once i had the big 2 tucked up with their books...
...in their beds...
...i swear...

...so here goes, my thoughts from yesterday...
...is this a bit weird?...
...not to me...i have to say...
...i often find myself finishing today, conversations i started yesterday, with one of the kids...
...ok... maybe it is a bit odd...

...SO...
...yesterday i was thinking about our up & coming *escaping-the-endless-almost-spring-english-weather* holiday...
...to the *gorgeous- italian-inspired-heavenly-island* that is paxos..greece...
{yes it is sooo bleedingly obvious we need some SUN!}
...& i thought...
...i'd share with you the *easiest* & *simplest* way of making bunting...
...greek inspired, pretty, white bunting...

...if you are anything like me when you are *just popping* into a thrift shop...
...on the way to school pick-up...
...you will also have drawers of white linen...
...& if you don't have this on your *2nd hand what-i-really-need list*...
...then you better add it!...

...so back to the drawers of white linen...
...beautiful vintage white handkerchiefs seem to be a thing of the past...
...& something i come across soo regularly...
...i'm yet to find one that has actually been used...
...i think they were more a *fashion item* to poke from a lapel pocket..
...or to touch to your cheek on a warm day...

...so i have amounted quite a gorgeous freshly laundered lovely pile...
...& bunting seemed the perfect way to look at them everyday...

...so i used nothing more creative, or hard to come by, then white bias-binding...
...& after chosing the order in which they would hang- no two sizes next to each other the same...
...i simply folded the bias in half & pinned the handkerchiefs along it before sewing...

...it's soo fresh, always reminds me of summer & holdiays...
&
...cost virtually nothing...

...so you can see how, whilst thinking of white lace bunting...
...summer, holidays & greece..
...i just sort of dozed off...
...ok crashed asleep next to the sleeping gal...

...anyhow, i've managed to share these thoughts with you...
...stay awake...
...& put the washing on!...
...so the day is looking pretty good...

...only 3 days to go till he's home...
...& i can't wait...
...but, can i leave you with one last question...
...WHY is life a little less busy & complicated when you are home alone with the kids?...

xxx

  5. What a great idea. You're lucky you live in the land of antique lace. I live in the land of garish pottery and kokopellis. Not the same.

  11. Melissa...I am LOVING this bunting. There is nothing like a fresh white linen hanky. I have some of my Grandmothers that I keep on my bedside table. You are so creative! And I agree completely...when Steve is traveling..my kids are in bed earlier..things are run more efficiently here at home. Not sure why. And GREECE! I'm green with envy!!
