...sunshine & being in the moment...

...i've read more than a few posts this weekend about the weather..
...i came in briefly between the *burning rays of sun* to have a beer with a few of you...
...{ & yes i am still in ol'blighty!}...

...you see...i'm australian...
...& in australia...when the *sun* comes out...so does the bbq & a beer...
...& when an australian is in britian & the sun comes out as it did this weekend...
...the whole family just has to celebrate...

...my plan this weekend was to *be present* with all the things we chose to do...
...to *be present* with the kids & ritchie...
...to really enjoy our weekend back together again...

...no sneaking off to sew...

...or make do & mend...

...or to while away the hours reading brilliant blogs...

...but to just *be present*...
...front & centre...
... with our life here in this lovely village...

...& i have...
...& i feel like its been a weekend of *smelling the roses*...
...& the sunscreen...
...& the bbq...

...of listening to BBC 1's outdoor music festival in Bangor- North Wales in the garden...
...of singing & dancing with the kids...
...of bunting blowing in the breeze...
...of lounging on the trampoline turned into a bedouin tent for the full effect of what the brits do best...
...outdoor music festivals...

...we have freckled noses...
...& bbq leftovers...
...& garden beds planted with seeds...
...& tomato plants blooming...

...we have water pistols strewn across the grass...
...& wet *cossies* on the line...
...& very happy bambino's...

...& very...very....happy...parents...
...it's easy to let your mind wander back to one's sewing...
...or one's washing...or any other number of things that don't have to be done...
...but weekends should be about being *present* with your kids...
...*just being* with your partners...
...& doing nothing more than *smelling the bbq*...

...hope yours was a lovely one of sunshine & nothingness...

  11. Hi - I am so with you!! This weather just blew me away; it is incredible what a difference the sun makes. I too spent the weekend thinking 'it can wait' and instead playing outside. It's a wonder how people in all-year-round warm climates get anything done! Louise x

  13. What a timely post - I've been struggling a little lately with trying to fit in work, family, blogging and everything else, and being present and in the moment is something I'm trying hard to achieve. Love this, it's nice to know we all have the same issues. Oh, and I'd have a beer and bbq with you any day! K xx

  17. Oh! Sounds like an absolutely delightful weekend! Sometimes we just have to make the decision to set everything else aside and just "be." The rewards for doing so are so great.

And you're flowers are too beautiful! :)

  19. Hi,
I am so happy that I stumbled across your blog ... I love the photographs and could just get lost in here for quite a while. I have my own children and adore looking at pictures of any and all children ... they often bring back my own memories. Your work is lovely! Also, thank you for choosing to follow my blog ... mind you I still have a lot of work and learning to do.
    Take care, Barbara
