...so the half term hols here in england are ending this weekend...
...but being *aussies* just living here for a *bit*...
...we of course break don't go in for rules like this...
...in australia we would never think of taking our kiddos on holiday during the *school holidays*...
...it's just maddness...there's *too many* other people...
...everything costs twice as much...
...& it just doesn't feel like a *really truely relaxing holiday*...
...so true to form as everyone else is finding their school socks...
{and you know i have sock basket & pairing up issues!!}
...& polishing school shoes...
...i'm packing sunscreen & ironing summer frocks...
...not that we're counting or anything...but in *2 sleeps* we'll be sunning...
...swimming...
...& getting seriously well fed on olives & fetta...
...on the * picturesque* island that is Paxos...
...greece at it's most beautiful with wonderful italian charm...
...a mix of both worlds...
...as it sits in the Ionian sea...
...so to *celebrate* my total delirious state of happiness...
...to *celebrate* my love for watching my bambinos barefoot in salt water...
...& to share a little bit of greece island life with you all...
...i am having my very first giveaway...
...how can i not...
...the thought of *non-stop* sunshine after this looong winter has gone to my head...
...i have a gorgeously greek blue & white tablecloth...
...perfect for outdoor...alfresco...summer... lunches...
...& i would like to buy one of you...my *blogging* friends one as well...
...the wonderful old woman i bought the first one from, is worth the visit back to her shop, on a little seaside harbour anyway...
...& whilst i'm there i'd like to buy someone a gift...
...a thankyou for following me...
...a thankyou for coming back to read my thoughts...
...so as i'm packing sandals & hats...
....& dreaming of bakalava & moussaka...
...leave me a thought on summer lunches...for one entry...
&
...become a follower {or let me know if you already are :)} for a 2nd entry...
....oooohhh i'm very excited....
...& my kiddos are going to pick this special person out of a good old vintage basket...
...you know...the old fashioned way!...

My favorite summer lunch...hmmm...it's a toss up between a cucumber sandwich with a bit of butter and salt on white bread or a tomato sandwich with mayo! And you know I'm a follower of your lovely blog!! have fun!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreece, just for fun? That right there is worth living in Europe for a while.
ReplyDeleteSummer lunch in Mesa, AZ where you wilt if you leave the house? Grilled chicken tossed with oranges, cranberries and almonds with an onion viniagrette.
And I checked. I follow. Thought I did, but I wanted to be sure.
Enjoy that trip!
Hope you have a lovely time on your hols. My idea of a lovely summer lunch would be a warm chicken and bacon salad with crushed new potatoes and balsamic vinegar, yummy :o). I'm already a follower, love your blog. xxx
ReplyDeleteHi! So very happy for you! Envious but in a really good way! Can't wait to see the photos upon your return.
ReplyDeleteTomato sandwich with a little mayo and salt and pepper! Must be farmers market tomatoes or home grown...no super market type! Add a side of greasy potato chips and I'm super happy! And sweet ice tea!

ReplyDeleteHi Melissa - so very jealous of this wonderful trip to Greece - we have had a truck load of rain here in Sydney this week so this looks blissful - make the most of it while you can as there has not been much sun in the part of the world! Look forward to hearing about your summer fun! Leanne xx

Oooh and I would love to be enter for your giveway please...x
And so you should be excited! I don;t like going away in school holidays either!
ReplyDelete(I'm Angela). All I can think of at this moment is eating olives and feta...Yummy! Summer is hot here; so I love light and fresh filling lunches! (I need to make Greek salad this week, thank you!). A favorite here is to make a "platter" for lunch of mostly sliced fruit and a leafy salad with juicy tomatoes or crunchy raw veggies like carrots and celery (for dipping in hummus). Our children however adore almond butter and jelly sandwiches year round along with the platters. Sometimes we spread the almond butter and jelly on rice cakes. Have so much fun on your trip! I would love to win a special table cloth. If I win, I will use it!

ReplyDeleteWell it's a bit hard to imagine a summer lunch on this freezing cold Canberra winter night where the temperature's about to go down to minus 5, but...I would love a summer lunch of salmon steak on the barbie and Bill Granger's spicy pumpkin and feta salad. On a blue and white greek tablecloth of course!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower already.
Hope you have a most wonderful holiday. I made the mistake of falling in love with a school teacher so now I am doomed to holidays only in the school holidays! the things we do for love!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog :) Sorry it's take me such a long time to return the visit... I've been so flat out with studying and poor internet connection at home. Hope you have a faaaaaabulous trip xoxo
For a kid summer is awesome. You get two months to yourself to do whatever you want. That makes me want to go back to high school again.
