we never knew it would be like this on our doorstep...
it's not quite on our doorstep...
we live in a village...
but scotland is on our doorstep...
& this is what she is made of...
& it makes our heart sing...
our kiddos love the connection with home...
australia & scotland- where nature is larger than life...
we were regulars on the manly ferry into sydney harbour...
it's on our doorstep back home...
here we use the Isle of Skye ferry...
the kiddos have loved this trip many times so far...
Glen Coe...
a battle field of beauty...
think Braveheart territory...
a very *favourite & best* spot for us...
when we moved from the beaches of sydney to the english countryside...
we never knew we would fall in love with an island that holds treasures like this...
old fishing cottages...
made of stone & on the wild edges of deep bays & lochs...
off the top of the UK...
off the top of scotland...
memories are made in many ways...
when we decided to take our kids 15,000 miles away from all they knew...
we wanted to fall in love with other places...
we wanted to fill their hearts, & ours, with memories of special places away from home...
we've done that & so much more...
moments to last a life time...a good life wednesday...every day...
it's all there for the taking...if you want it...
acceptance...resilience...adventure...hardship...love...
life abroad...& we don't regret a moment {yep...even those moments!}
a good life wednesday...
travel broadens the mind. the heart & the soul...
we knew that...
but until we actually made the move...
i don't think we really knew quite how much...
~~~
thanks sarah for the reminder to reflect on a *good life* today
a moment to think & smile about the small things
Wow, this is just what I needed to hear today. To be reminded of all the reasons we made the leap somewhere else. The reasons and the blessings {like everything in life} are easy to loose sight of. I want to copy and paste your words into my heart.
ReplyDelete{And I love the reflection in the window.}
Thank you for your words of wisdom - as ever a comment from you is like the blog equivalent of taking a deep breath and holding hands with a good friend. Lou x
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such intimates moments of your adventures! I have dreams to travel {some day} ... to travel thousands of miles and see new landscapes, experience new cultures, meet new people … but for now, I will just soak up the beauty of this world {and the enriching power of travel} through your pictures!
What a powerful post. It's so easy to get caught up in the things that cause us difficulty, we often lose sight of the many things to be thrilled about. Most of us don't dare take on the challenges you have - love your perspective and outlook on your "good life". Beautiful
ReplyDeleteSmiling....and still smiling after reading this. Thank you for a gorgeous reminder of a 'good life'
ReplyDeletePS My old house was called Glen Coe - lovely memories.
