i've walked, grocery shopped, dropped back to school forgotten library bags & managed to get
a good *rant* in on the merits of homework to the three kiddos this morning- all before lunch...!
i'm on a roll...a monday morning roll...
so lets keep going with *make-it-monday* as i still have a puppy & a few holes in the garden dug
with pride that i need to discuss with her...!
*make-it-monday* kitchen styling by the beach...
in our big old house in the English countryside- we had many a blackboard...
i love to list write & quote write...& with three kiddos on the run, it seemed to work that everyone was
used to checking life reminders on my blackboards- especially the kitchen one...
so on moving home to the beaches of Oz...i set myself a plan to paint a *practical, big* kitchen wall with
some blackboard paint...
as the house has just been freshly painted for our return- i seriously didn't want to make a mistake on the
wall of choice, or the colour...
yep...gals...chalkboard paint comes in ALL colours- but the french putty ones are especially perfect!
so...
kitchen wall chosen...i searched for chalkboard paint as we had seen in little french restaurants
when travelling with the kiddos in France, over our summers in England...
there was plenty of black...green & even brights like pink & purple chalkboard paint...
none of which i wanted, although black would have worked, as it did in England...
then...i came across The Society Inc Chalkboard Paint & it was looove at first sight...
my favourite new & gorgeous shop {check it out here Honey Bee Homewares} had painted an
entire, enormous wall in the enticingly gorgeous colour *ship chandler*...
it's french...putty coloured chalboard brown...exactly what i had been searching for...
so i grabbed me a big ol'pot of *ship chandler* & went home to slap it on our kitchen wall...
it is D.I.V.I.N.E ...
truly if you are a blackboard lover like myself- you will want to invest in this product...
& like all of my *make-it-monday* projects-
it's a quick, satisfying, simple living, cool way to give your house- beach or mountain...
country or ocean based...a little simple styling...
simply tape with *painters tape* the shape of your blackboard & slap on two coats- giving an hour
between each to touch dry...
i like to double up my tape to get a nice thick edge which is easier to peel off later...
give the board a good few hours before you do peel the edges off...
if you're anything like me...love is a french coloured kitchen blackboard...
done in an hour whilst putting the groceries away...after a long walk on the beach...

Wow, it sure is LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteI think even I could do this project, being craft challenged AND having a tiny, galley kitchen and a tiny house.
Hm, am perusing walls now as I type.

Smiling from ear to ear and LURVING your ideas!! Thank you lovely lady! We are embarking on a "home makeover/facelift/love-over' and I'm so excited because I'm going to create two of these! A more substantial one for the home and a smaller one for Max (my boy) to help with "high school organisation" - Excitement levels rising! Have a super week! (Oh yes and I love Honey Bee Homewares and Society Inc too! - Sibella Court's books Etcetera and Nomad are TO DIE FOR COOL) I'm so glad you're back in Oz! We need style gurus like you :-) xx
ReplyDeleteLOve it. We love our blackboard and I couldn't be organised without it. Lurve the colour of yours.
ReplyDeleteLove is indeed a blackboard. I truly truly couldn't be without mine either. The danger is, because I love them so much, I'm always sussing out another wall that could maybe do with a wee blackboard makeover, just because!
ReplyDeleteIn our house nothing gets past the blackboard - lists, timetables, whats on, a wee drawing or two, you name it. And isn't it cool that all these lovely colours exist for our pleasure! Amanda xx
What a good idea :-)
ReplyDeleteI painted a huge blackboard in the playroom a few years ago and have been toying with the idea of one in the kitchen. The thing that has held me back is the worry that black is too harsh. So,thank you, thank you, thank you for this post. Off to source me some 'ship chandler'.

ReplyDeleteFabbo, Sweets. I am rally enjoying watching you make your mark on your place. J x
ReplyDeleteEr, that would be 'really' ☺. J x
ReplyDeleteWow, I love it ... and relatively easy to do. I have a section of kitchen wall that's too small for anything much, but this would be perfect! Jules x
ReplyDeleteI love chalkboards. We don't really have much wall space here, but I've been thinking of doing a cupboard door. I actually found a roll of blackboard decal at officeworks last year and stuck it to the front door. Takes the scariness of permanency out of it for me. I went back for more yesterday for the toilet door, but they no longer sell it :(. I might have to just bite the bullet and paint!

I used to be skeptical when my wife desired to attempt it,
ReplyDeleteBut did not stop her from performing it. From Curiosity I attempted it for few weeks till
now and I have misplaced practically 5 lbs and my spouse who had been employing for virtually three weeks
has misplaced 9 lbs. What was interestin was I consume a whole lot of pasta or noodles if positioned prior to me.
We were eating Thai Drunken noodles which I would gobble up two plates and still consume of my
wife plate and my kids, in fact did say I am complete following 1/4
th on the plate. So my guess is tends to make you complete.
But the crucial is always to take prior to meals atleast 3o mins in advance of the meals.
It functions for me and my spouse up to now.
