french farm inspired coastal living...loving it!

morning lovely ones...i've been a little MIA this week...

i wonder how long i can blame my *balancing* it all on the huge move home to the beaches from

the English countryside...?

not for much longer- but whilst i can...i am :)

this week has been very much about sorting life...making decisions about *what* we need to do, to get

this little beach house sorted to accomodate our *bigger-than-when-we-used-to-live-here* kiddos...

to sort this little beach house now it has a very lovely...very flipping busy enthusiastic puppy living

in it's rooms...

i've decided that simple simple simple is the answer...

french farm house inspired simple...on the gorgeous beaches of Oz...

coastal farm-inspired living...

we're waaay past the plastic baby toy stage...although miss.6 does have an incredible imaginary

world of miniatures constantly in progress on her bedroom floor...

we're waaay past lots of little ones having play group on the lawn...

so simple, for the first time in this little beach house, is totally achievable...

i'm thinking that *sharing* the spaces with y'all here will get me organising each room as we

make our way through...together...

so...today you are getting the sitting room...

a little coastal house with a lot of french farm house love in it...

our last four years of travel have very much influenced *how* we are choosing to live...

none of it seems to link to any of the *coastal-dictated-this-is-what-beach-living-star-fish-collecting*

should look like mainstream shops i used to frequent!

it's all coming together very much from the heart in *how* we want to live...

as we work our way through this little beach house...i'm loving the aesthetic mix that is being

created...

i love that our vege garden planning reminds us of our big old country house in the English

countryside...

i love that there will be a surf board or two leaning up alongside that vege garden...

i love that our sitting room feels like the wonderful old village houses we stayed in throughout the

French countryside...

& i love that there is Australian sunshine pouring in on this room through the coastal windows...

little miss.6, audrey would love her room to be up next...

i'm thinking you'd like to see my herbs planted in french tubs...twice...after the puppy dug them

up the first time.... hmmm....!!!

will keep you posted on the house tours...

thanks for all your comments & emails gals...and your thoughts on vege garden...

i've never had one in the Southern Hemisphere- i'm madly excited about it...

yep- my life is BIG! :)

have a good one!

love to hear your thoughts on coastal french inspired living

it's rocking my little world today!

  1. Coastal and french sounds gorgeous! My two favourite styles! I'd love to go French Provincial meets Coastal in my next (hopefully much bigger!) home :) xo K

  2. Yep Melissa, I get where your coming from...I live smack between some beautiful green mountain hinterlands and the ocean (our goal is to live in the coastal hinterlands eventually), so I have incorporated both country and coastal aspects into my home too. Your decorating style is perfectly gorgeous!

  4. Beautiful simplicity with vintage style.
Gosh you make it look so effortless.
Mine is far from it and yes we *do* have lots of plastic toys scattered throughout our lounge room, but I will sadly miss that stage when it is over.
How lovely to be able to keep it simple and neat though!!!
I get to do the beach and bush thing, but its more shabby than shabby chic ;)
    Love your work!

  5. As usual ma'dear... your style is just sublime... and very inspirational. I can actually feel that sea breeze baby!
When we moved from "suburbia" to the hills of Perth (technically still suburbia but with trees, big blocks, no two houses look the same, a bit of history, a great community, bushwalks... you get the idea) well I just fell about the place trying TOO hard to organise everything at once. I learnt such a valuable lesson from that experience. To truly honour a room you need to "just be" in it for a while... let it speak to you and guide you. Then the loving will all fall into place... Thanks for sharing your home - it really is stunning! Xx

  7. I stood on a piece of Lego in the middle of the night once... agony, I wouldn't wish it on an enemy! I am very envious of your toy free space it looks fantastic! Looking forward to seeing the rest. x

  8. Wow - your home looks so serene and gorgeous! I love that fresh French farmhouse style, with a little bit of English country to mix it up. As I actually am in the English countryside, a little bit of your Ozzie heat wouldn't go amiss over here - lucky you to have experienced the best of ALL worlds it seems! x
p.s. My kids are WAY past the plastic toy stage, and yet I still find it all over the place - perhaps a move to Australia is what I need to banish it from the house once and for all - lol!

  9. I think your sitting room looks lovely Melissa, very French country coastal but with better light...the dark floor boards really ground the pale furnishings beautifully. It's must be lovely to return home with a different aesthetic resulting from a European influence. Can't wait to try mine out, with my new bits...one day when we go home! Robx
