...'try it tuesday'...

...ohhh the sun was a shinin' today & spring was on my doorstep...

...with a cup of tea i began the morning sorting through my piles of notebooks, kids drawings, pictures & serious mountains of home magazines....
...i found a little brown notebook that i have been jotting down 'things to make' in since we first moved to england 2 years ago...

...i thought perhaps i could share some with you... & we could make bits & pieces out of it together...

...so 'try it tuesday' starts today...

i read somewhere when we first arrived about painting glass jars...creating vases...here goes...

if you are anything like me...you would keep every jar that walks through your door!
...be it tomato sauce, pesto sauce, fig jam or herbs...i cannot throw out a jar, particularly with a cool lid...
...we live in england because the lovely husband sets up seriously brilliant 'waste to energy' sites- giving us all an alternative to landfill...& a viable way to reduce co2's...
...& i guess as a carry over to this i try to find a use for most bits that could end up on his conveyor belt...

-so grab those jars & any other glass bits that would make a gorgeous group of smaller vases
-i used regular jars & the cream jug & deco jar i bought at the car boot sale as they had such lovely cut glass designs on them i hoped would be picked up once painted white
-on an old cloth {essential for dripage!} pour your chosen colour of industrial paint- it needn't be glass or fancy paint- into the jar & swirl & cover all areas, draining out as much excess paint as possible back into the paint tin
-wipe all the rims & edges before the paint starts setting, & leave overnight...

i would recommend painting at least 3 or 4 as they work best as a small group
..the british spring is full of blooms, buds, & birds...& these are our little audreys fave- 'yellow like the sun'...
...her favourite & her best...

...i have had a long standing love affair with anything blue & white...
...but i think these would be gorgeous in any colour for spring...
...coloured jars full of straws, sweets, lollies, coloured cayons & texta's for a kids bday party...
...pink, aqua, wasabi green...
...for my kitchen window sill though, i can't go past white...& all the blooms of spring...

...what d'ya reckon...blooming gorgeous spring vases in any colour?...

...happy spring & try this...it's tuesday!
