'try it' tuesday ...on a wednesday...

...its wednesday...
...but it's half term, & all the days are really 'any' day...

...so today we are going to enjoy 'try it' tuesday ....on wednesday...& thats what holiday time is all about!

...when we moved to the 'other' side of the world we complicated many things...
...postage...get-togethers...sunday bbq's...drop-ins...{an australian instituition the 'drop-in'}...

...but we have been dealt the most serious of complications...the sibling wedding!...
...not only are we australians living in england...but my brother-in-law is taking his wedding out of oz & adding another place to the 'complication'...the south pacific...still it's tugging at the strings...

...all of this would be just to much for a single cash-laden unemployed swing-it-by-the-seat-of-her-pants kinda gal, but for a mother of three, self employed with a seriously busy husband on the work & football {read soccer  for the right side of the world} run this is just nothing short of overwhelming...

...the £££ & the days of travel are just not easy for the five of us...& it's not just home to oz, but beyond that to the chosen & very beautiful destination...
...we know this because we have all been there before...it's on that side of the world...it was easy & accessible...& now it is not...

...right now we live over this side...we holiday over this side...we just can't do that far away at the moment...
...& the husband & wife to be totally know that...we spoilt them here over the summer & they want no gifts for their wedding...but we love them & wanted to give them something simple & special...

...which at last brings me to 'try it' tuesdays lovely gift...

...do you remember i bought a wonderful book of old school maps for a £1 from the boot car sales i haunt ?

...well this was done with my gorgeous brother-in-law & sister-in-law to be in mind...
...they had a wonderful holiday in europe last summer...ending it at 'ours' in england with a big gleaming rock on someones finger...this rock was given in italy....& thats where the maps got me thinking...

...i have a stash of good old standard white frames in my  present cupboard...{does everyone have a 'present' cupboard/basket/drawer... or is that just something my mum drilled into me...or an australian quirk?}...

...& i have a serious stash of old maps...& atlas drawings...

...vintage maps of italy & white frames...a match made in heaven really...

...& for those sending something special to oz for an australian wedding happening in the south pacific...which was begun in europe...completely perfect...

...what d'ya think?...
... I'd have loved one for our big day....get out those white frames & find yourselves some vintage maps to mark some place thats special to you...or better still for some people that you love...

  1. They are sooo cool!!! What a lovely and thoughtful gift. Damn Ikea is in Richmond here in Melbourne and a good hours drive away. I spend far too much time in there on the few occasions I have been there, though I have planned for a big wall unit in the forseeable future. Must get me some frames too......

Do you have to be invited in England for a visit ? I find the drop in isnt as big as it was. I blame text messages on that , it seems why drop in when you can send a message , sad really.
Love your blog I will be back to visit.
