...so in complete defiance of my stye...
...i have had a magic *country* weekend of car boot & antique thrifting...
...& of country races...
...proper wellies & pearls country racing...
...i looooved my sandy upbringing on the beaches of sydney...
...i wouldn't change a moment of wet *cossies* on the bathroom floor...
...or beers & a barbie after a *southerly* has hit the beaches...for anything...
...& thats what our kids are going to get back to when we finish our adventures here...
...BUT there is something utterly wonderful about hauling home vintage goodies in the countryside...
...& following this with a day drinking *bubbles* in your wellies...
{read gum boots you aussie gals}
...at a day of country racing...
{at this point i feel compelled, before i even share my booting haul, to tell you i am more than a little surprised at my bambinos skill & sheer competativeness trackside!!}
...they all turned their £1 into many more!!...
...& i was *very quietly impressed*...
...before a day at the *track* we country folk like to do a bit of thrifting...
...a quiet sunday morning up here is always good for a bit of car booting...
...& this time of year is lovely...
...it's warm enough to actually *get up* & *out of the house*!...
...& the countryside is gorgeous at 7.30 in the mornings with the sun on the fields...
...& as there is now consistent sun on old blighty...
...i am following the rest of the country & planting out pots for my garden...
...so *booting* this weekend was all about the search for old vintage tin buckets...
...big, old wonderfully grey and lovely buckets...
... i managed to find these two gorgeous vintage buckets...
{complete with holes in the bottom- perfect for planting out!}
... for a whole £2 a piece...
...they were happily sitting between 2...yes 2...beautiful white...square...farm kitchen sinks...
...that the old guy was asking £20 each for...
...i would have given him 50 but *how to ever get them home to sydney*??!!...
...so instead i bought the old sweet tin... that used to sit next to the gorgeous heavinly sink... in the farmhouse kitchen!...
...i have to draw the line somewhere...
{apparently!}
...they were the words of my lovely ever-so-patient in the line of vintage goods trawling husband...
...i did manage though...to swap some of my hand-made vintage bunting...
...for 2 wonderfully old & worn...very loved stools for the hallway...
...perfect for bambinos to pull on wellies...
...so if you're ever in need of a weekend of vintage hauling...
...& race going...
...we've a big ol'country house that loves visitors...
...& wet *cossies* on the floor...
...so be sure to stop by...
...happy tuesday...
