...i believe...
...that we all have a *personal* vice...
...it may be a secretive vice...
...it may be a social vice...
...it may be a health vice...
...it may be a vice that you embrace as a daily ritual...
...that your husband jokes is a vice...
...i have a daily ritual....
...well i call it a ritual...
...as it sounds more ok than an obsession...
...an obsession sounds kinda weird...& well a little unbalanced...
...but this ritual does improve my life daily in some small way...
&
...my mum & dad could confirm i've been doing this since well...since any of us can remember...
&
...my husband is soo used to it that it wouldn't feel like our home if i didn't do it...
&
...he not only notices...but comments....on my vice...obsession...ritual...
...ALL THE TIME...
...but he's good like that...
...so i will admit that creating little *visual moments* on my mantle piece...
&
...my kitchen window daily makes me happy...
...they are referred to as my shrines...
...thats how the family refer to them...
...i move...rearrange...add flowers...shells...stones...jars...
....EVERY DAY...
...is that weird?...
&
...if i come up with something i adore i try to leave it for a few days...
...i truely do...
...but it's part of who i am & i have to do it daily...
...thats what an obsession ritual is...
...there i've said it!...
...but i don't smoke...i'm a good person...& a loving mother...
...so i feel kinda justified in this vice...
...if you're going to have a vice...obsession...ritual...
...then i say...make it a good one...
....feel free to share yours...as it will absolutely make me feel normal part of the artisitic gang..
...it's not weird...i absolutely no it's not!?...
it's not weird to me but quite normal! : ) and i love your little arrangement of stones, so pretty and the flowers...all of it...quite a healthy obsession -er...ritual to have if you ask me! : D
ReplyDeleteof course your vice is cool. And soothing. And good for the soul. I expect nothing less from you.
ReplyDeleteMine is Diet Coke. But it has to come from the fountain. I won't drink it from a can or a bottle. I have to go to a fast food joint or 7-Eleven to get my fix. I need to kick this habit. maybe I need to try yours in its place. so much better for me.
You have a very pretty vice! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteNot weird. Impressive! I don't know how you find the time or the energy. Every day..really?! I'd love to have a ritual...you've inspired me to go and make one! I think it could be quite soothing.
ReplyDeleteNope not weird at all....I think it's fab and am jelous of your energy...I've just given up a bad vice..smoking.. oops...and am doing great. I feel so much better.Tthought it would be harder after doing it for so long...but don't give up yours...it's part of your creative spirit :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I don't think a ritual is weird at all! I guess if I had to say I have a ritual it is making sure the house is 'straight' before I can function for the day. I find I am less stressed if the cushions are 'right' and the beds are made ... okay maybe that is weird. As for a vice(s) - it would have to be chocolate and interior magazines .... I can't kick my daily dose of these! Have a great weekend. Michelle
ReplyDeleteI think that is just the coolest thing! I love it! How creative. I wish I could have you come to my home and do that for me daily! I put something up ~ and it's there til the end of time.
ReplyDeleteHave a pretty day!
Kristin
I think your ritutal is charming. I once read an article about Gwyneth Paltrow and how her mother would always pop something in Gwyneth's pocket for school... a ribbon or a flower - and I think this is a similar quirk! It's about finding beauty in the everyday and that's just got to be good hasn't it? Louise x
