bread heaven...in france...

i am no nigella...
or
jaime
or
martha...

but i am a seriously obsessed with baking bread...border line scary obsessed..

i love to bake at any chance i get...
at my peak mad times...two big gorgeous loaves a day...
i love to rustle up an asian chook with noodles & a venician pasta too...

but i loooove to bake bread...

imagine my delight when we left our little french village over the summer & found this...

a bread festival...festival du pain...

i didn't even need to beg ask hubster firmly, but nicely, to stop the car...HE stopped because he knew it would make my day...

ooohhh & make my day it did...

stone bread ovens...

old bread cloths, floured & thick, bowing in the breeze...

french country bakers & literally mountains of good organic country bread...

HEAVEN...france...sunshine...bread...

i learnt to make bread on the island of Rasaay off the Isle of Skye....Scotland...by a very special friend of mine...a mad london gal...

she would have loved this bread festival...

hell...you could literally {& oddly} hate  flour & still want to bake bread ofter a morning like this...

i DID NOT leave empty handed...
but i did leave justified...VERY justified with my obsession!

...i hold this man & his river cottage totally responsible for my love of bread making...
...he is an organic genius in our house...

  6. I can almost smell it from here... my secondary school used to be between a bakery and a brewery... in the morning we would be greeted by the smell of bread and in the afternoon, the air would be thick with the smell of hops! I've never baked bread, but the hubby is a dab hand at it! You really captured the essence of France on your trip! Lx

Thank you so much for agreeing to write to Butch, I do appreciate it - and I know that he and Summer will too....you're an angel :) xoxo

  13. Bread, bread, bread, bread! That is my chant whenever we go out for breakfast! I skip the meat and just order more bread.

There's nothing better than a fat, crusty boule. These look like heaven!

  16. Oh, I adore freshly made bread, so I'm smiling from ear to ear after seeing your post. Like Amy above, darling hubby and I have plans to build a brick/stone oven in our back yard too. It is just a matter of time. I'm sure when it happens, people will come knocking on my door, inquiring about the lovely aroma!
This is my first visit to your lovely blog. I'll be back for sure!

Oooh, I can only imagine how absolutely divine that bread festival must have been! I wish I had time to make some more often, you're very industrious churning it out so often - totally worth it I've no doubt!
I wonder if I can work on getting a stone bread oven in our garden - hmmm....
