afternoon tea...you either do it or you don't...
we do it...
especially on a friday...
yep, it probably makes dinner time trickier...
it probably fills*up* the kids just when i'm meant to be *starving* them off till tea time...
but i don't care...
on the days that we have nothing *on* after school...
and especially on a friday...
i love the kiddos coming in to *graze* after a day away...
i love seeing them together laughing...eating...still happy & high from their day...
i like getting the table ready...
i like having *extras* over...
my mother instilled it in me...& i do it for my kids...
...it ends the day before the beginning of the evening....
...do you *afternoon tea*?...
...you're always welcome to *ours*...
&
...this week i want to give the the roses from our table, my *friday flower* to a wonderful aussie gal...
...she is the romantic summer side of me...
...the part of me that wants to surround my self in white & icecream pastels...
...the side that is calm & content...
laura and her blog *the summer house* is a daily fix of mine
...go say hi & that i sent you...
...she really is a sweetheart...
& of course today i am linking my friday flower up with my special friend
laura who sits with me & we share a cuppa tea & thoughts on the world across the waters
~if you'd like to join in with us in giving someone special a virtual piece of your garden with
*a friday flower*
link up both here & with the lovely laura over at her blog *a place for tea*
each friday & make someone smile~
...just a happy way to end the week...
I love tea - as you know - morning, afternoon, whatever. It would be my desert island must have (along with lip balm). I agree too about nice Friday chill-out evenings. My kids always always have curry - every Friday so effectively they get after school high tea, cakes etc and then a curry later on. You have to spoil them hey?! Lou x
ReplyDeleteI just bought an assortment of 'biscuits' to have with our tea after school today with the kiddos. I can't wait!

I love this idea. I have a daughter in the 8th grade & I think this would be a terrific way for the girls to get together. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Colleen
oh how I wish ... this is a lovely gesture!
ReplyDeleteyour life is so perfect ....
I can see it all in my minds' eye
so glad we're friends!
The plates gives me that fresh country feel. Do have a good weekend! Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some stylish tea set up, you have going on there... I have afternoon dolly tea parties with the girls, but I guess they don't count...no unless you partial to a plastic chocolate roll or a plastic peach... Anyhoo, yours looks straight out of Country Living... Perfect! Wish I could be there to share it with you... I might even bring a plastic biscuit to dunk! Lx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to have found you! What a lovely blog you have here. The photos are exceptional!

Hi Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI linked up with you (it was from last week, but this week I had no time to make a FF, busybusy...), and I just came back from a quick trip to the netherlands, so sorry for this late response!
Also, you really made me laugh! Your comment on the green bistro chairs (pictures from the french fleamarket)was so funny! If I knew it, I would have tied two of them on my back for you! So come along next year, you would love it!
So, gotta run now, enjoy your evening!
Maureen

We do afternoon tea as well, but not nearly as beautifully as you...its more like a feeding frenzy full of sugar to get some energy for homework! Except on Friday's when there is no homework and life is at a more sedate pace (love Friday) and like you love to have 'extras' along. Your afternoon teas looks beautiful - enjoy making those lovely traditions & memories for the kiddos. Nice : )
ReplyDeleteAfternoon tea. What a romantic notion. The closest we come on a Friday would be Happy Hour. Definitely not enchanting.
ReplyDeleteLove tea. Drink it every morning. Wish I could join you for an afternoon tea.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for following me... #700. So grateful.
xo,
cristin
What beautiful images! If only coffee came with such beautiful and delicate dishes. Thank you for following my blog!! It was such a pleasure to receive your comment/visit. abby
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos as always Melissa!! I am a huge afternoon tea fan...china, tea leaves, pink sugar for the girls and today I am baking french macarons for the first time :)Wish me luck!! Love that you gave your beautiful Friday flower to Laura from My Summerhouse, one of the sweetest girls in Blogland:) Enjoy your weekend my lovely friend. Hugs ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteI adore afternoon tea, I love baking, although do sometimes struggle to find time - I get inspired though from Laura at A Place for Tea! (I'm still dropping not so subtle hints about an outdoor bread oven, but not convinced I'm making progress). Funnily enough, the two things I bake most often are damper and Anzac biscuits - cause everyone always asks me for something 'Australian'. Back home in Oz I was more likely to bake scones!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tina, I can't think of a more deserving person for a flower than Laura at My Summerhouse, she is one of the sweetest people in blogland
Hope you're having a good weekend,
Melissa xx
Thank you for inviting me to link up! It is an honor to be on your beautiful site :)
