yep...the shops are full of all things halloween....
&
ORANGE...
but with a trio of enthusiastic helpers & a 12 year old take on a few *Bing* christmas classics...
we got it done...
for me, wrapping is one of the delights of the holiday season...
{errr...yep even if this year my season began in september!}
&
i did manage to savour the *moment* a little...
i had the singing...the glass of wine...the 5 year old sticky tape chaos...
my husband remarked on how much *effort* i still put into each gift...
& i looked astounded at his comments as i do every
if you can't put the effort into christmas...well you won't be at our big ol'country table with a bubbles in hand...
here are our ready-to-haul-to-the-post-office-pressies & a few little tag stamping moments to get you enthusiastic
we used the most gorgeous christmas stamp from cox & cox & bulk industrial gift tags tied with french cotton ribbon from a family-run local store stringers.
it's messy...fun & industrious....
...& it's done...& there was a definate *early* christmas spirit to it all...
...i thought i'd also show you the lovely *typeset butterfly bunting* that hangs above our big ol'table..
...i've seen this sort of thing on a few creatively inspiring blogs as birthday decorations...
&
...as the new school year started we thought we'd make some of our own...
...we drew a butterfly pattern about 8cms in size & traced it onto some newspaper...
...cut them out...
&
...strung them on white cotton...
...simple & lovely...
...i adore typeset...
&
...bunting...so this makes me smile...
...happy creating & happy christmas september!...
i'd be happy with just one of those tags and no present! gorgeous x
ReplyDeletePlease can I come and live in your house ;) I am quite happy to sing Christmas songs any time of year :)
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds GORGEOUS....beautiful wrapping, lovely details...just delicious :)
I received a Cox & Cox brochure in the mail this morning so will be checking out that lovely stamp.
Funny you should mention Halloween....and off to a Halloween party/photo shoot in town tonight - for the children obviously! They cannot wait!
Well done for being so organised, I am so impressed :)
PS Love the butterfly bunting...am even tempted to try it myself :) xx
I'm guessing those presents are for out-of-country family? My sister-in-law lives in Germany with her husband and two children, and so, usually we also have to send presents WAY in advance. But this year, we get to go and see them in person! :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what your
ReplyDeletefamily in Oz thinks
of Christmas presents
with snowflake stamps,
since the holiday occurs
during THEIR summer months?
Someday I will visit that
part of the world in
December and see how it's
done, there. LOVE all of
your wee touches and the
butterfly garland is just
precious!
xx Suzanne
PS: Loved your last post,
too...Yes, you are caught
between the seasons as an
ex-pat, but they are both
equally beautiful. And I
am crazy for squirrels! We
have them here in abundance
in all but the most bitter
winter months : )!
Wow you're already ready for Christmas!! I can't believe my eyes!! And that buting butterflies is so sweet! Do you mind if I copy?
ReplyDeleteMelissa, I wish i could be so organised like you are. I am struggling a bit to get into the christmassy spirit! Maybe you could blow some in my direction!! Will this be your final christmas in the UK?

Oh the ribbon! the tags! the bunting! All totally DIVINE! I too am absolutely in LOVE with Cox&Cox - any excuse to get Christmas started once you've seen their brochure is understandable. Wish I could be so organised - I even have family abroad, but I know that - despite seeing this post - they'll still be getting their pressies the week after Christmas as usual - sigh! xxx

ReplyDeleteI have lately found myself in the mood to listen to Christmas music. I have been afraid to admit this to anyone before now. Thank you for making me feel safe in doing so. I also need to start wrapping some Christmas gifts as I have no place to hide them in our temporary little cottage and you have inspired me to do it with more effort and style than I might have before.
ReplyDeleteLove those pretty packages. Lucky ducks who receive one of those in the mail. And that bunting is TOO cute! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSqueal! Oh, Miss Melissa, I can't believe I missed this post. I'm bookmarking it - it's just divine. I treasure your creativity. Thanks for the heads-up! J x
