i almost got up in a quiet house...
i NEVER manage get up & at it before kiddo number two...
that lucky early-rising boy gets a lovely quiet house to himself every morning...
i have an inkling that he doesn't quite appretiate it as much as i would....!
anyhow....this morning i rose early & quietly...not as early as kiddo numbers two & three...
but earlier than kiddo number one...& the aussie cousins...
so, for me, it felt relatively quiet...
you see...today, AT LAST i am joining in on my first *virtual coffee* with my gorgeous friend across the waters- miss.amy from lucky number 13 who hosts a weekly virtual coffee with blog friends...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
so if we were meeting for coffee today...
i'd have to *high five* you as i turned up at last...!
i'd have to shout you your cafe *drink of choice*...& encourage you to pick the loveliest looking home-made cake...with two forks...to share...
&
i'd listen to your thoughts first...just to hear some calm adult wisdom...
i'd ask you to tell me about your week...about your tuesday...
{& i'd be sitting knees up in my favourite old jeans...}
{& i'd be sitting knees up in my favourite old jeans...}
then i'd have to eat a little cake...& slurp sip a little of my chai...
but i'd be listening...& nodding & thinking alongside you...
happy at last to be knowing a little more about you...
you know the stuff you only share spontaneously over coffee...
& then i'd show you the aprons i've been making...
i'd have them squished folded in my big ol' french basket...
& i'd ask you what you thought...
& i'd tell you...
that i know why i didn't have 5 kiddos...
even though, at times, i think i could do it...
&
even though, at times, i think i'd be good at it...
i am absolutely completely totally glad i didn't...
& then i'd just stop with you for a moment & enjoy the peace...
{a house full of sandy salty sunkissed cousins can make for a lot of pent up lovely noise...}
& i'd tell you that i have been thinking about booking another weekend for us five in paris...
ineed want some *french-ness* around me at them moment...
i want to see our kiddos climbing the steps of the eiffel tower again...
i want to look wistfully at french wallpaper & talk the hubster into wanting it too...
i would tell you i haven't booked yet because i think i've missed the boat -weather wise- this year & that i don't want to really wait till next spring...
but kinda know i have too...
& i would remind you that going to paris is *very easy* from here...it's like crossing states in america or australia...
& i'd tell you that i have been thinking about booking another weekend for us five in paris...
by this time...we may both have other *things* to do...other bits of our day to return to...
but i'd tempt you with one more piece of cake...
remember we actually shared the first...
&
i'd thank you for making my *place* in this bloggy world just such a pleasure...
i'd hug you for being part of my life...real & virtual...
& then i'd smile...think of amy & thank her for *waiting* for me to join her in her virtual coffee mornings...
& plan to see you next tuesday...
p.s...another huge thankyou...
i just want to say a huge thankyou
i want to send you a smile
&
i want to post all of my followers
{old & new}
&
all of you wonderful gals who leave me a message a huge hug
amongst the business of our big ol'house this week
i guess i've really thought long & hard
how important you all are to my day
...you make me truely happy...
&
thats a gift
Your virtual coffee gave me pangs of longing to have a little sit down with my dearest friend (who also lives across the water). Amazing how all the time apart just melts away when you do manage to get together with old friends!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a little peace!
Yes, me too. My bestie lives hours away and time just evaporates when we are together. I almost never get up first, when I do I love it.
ReplyDeleteand ladies this is one of my *on-line-bloggy* besties...
ReplyDeletewe've never met...but it doesn't matter...x
my british bestie is 2 mins away- other end of the village- lovely!!
and my aussie besties are waiting....
xx
Aww... I would ask if I could crash your coffee mornings... I promise I'd be good ;-) I'm also making pinnies (aprons) at the moment with my mum... we're making them as favors for my girls birthday party (the sewing gene was not passed on to me, but I'm hoping I can learn it)... So happy to get up and see a post from you this morning! Lx
ReplyDeleteHmmm, three is the perfect number is it? Discussions are in place about whether to go down the .... three is the perfect number path!
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so eloquent - I'd love to have a coffee in person one day. Just so you know, I LOVE your aprons - so lovely. And three is pretty perfect in my opinion too. And don't even get me started on those little jaunts of yours...turning green as we speak! K xx
ReplyDeleteOH my! this post is so beautiful. I love it. What a great idea...
ReplyDeleteYour apron is fabulous.
You should join in the photo challenge with us!! I find it makes me get my camera out more too! Not sure what the 10 on 10 challenge is, sounds interesting! xox
Hi Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI was happy to see your post today, it wasn't the same these days!
I know Amy's blog, love it and I'm glad you joined her coffee Tday, now I can read both of you! And sipping tea and coffee while eating cake, yum! So I think I would be party crashing with Laura then, is 4 an ok number?
Also, on the note of numbers... Not having 3 kids will be my nr. one regret, I think..., so far it will stay at 2. Love to see the pic with their faces, did Audrey make it? Well, gotta go, zoe, daughter nr 2, has to get dressed for a Halloween party, talk later!
What a truly beautiful post! Love your apron and so glad we got to sit and sip our coffee/tea together. Thank you! ♥
ReplyDeleteOh if only... That's the hardest thing about blogging. Why can't we meet all our friends? Why do I live on the other side of the world to my besties? Still we have to remember we wouldn't have even got the chance to know them if it wasn't for the computer. We are very lucky to have so many global friends these days and to share in each others lives like this. Enjoy your coffee.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! Love your apron!!
ReplyDeleteOh, YES, we'd
ReplyDeleteblow through the
whole cake, I think,
and still have a lot
of ground to cover : ) !!
BIG hugs to Mr. SEA,
today!!
ReplyDeleteLove love your photos, and it's my first time here - but this looks like such a special place :)
Love the virtual coffee idea!! And those aprons are darn cute!
ReplyDeleteI am smiling in faraway Hobart, Miss Melissa! Your warmth, empathy and compassion really shine through in this post. You wrote it beautifully. My best friends are flung far and wide on this fair planet of ours so I never get to do this. Sigh. Enjoy your remaining time with the rellies. J x
