a virtual coffee & marrakech...

bonjour mes amis...
marrakech now seems like a wonderful gorgeous incredible memory...
a moment from our *other life*...
the life without snow....without poorly kiddos...
without christmas just round the corner...
without well....snow!

it's a tuesday...& i'd love us to share a virtual christmas coffee or a little mulled wine together...
our last before the big guy himself rocks up & makes all our kiddos grin big & happy...
you know the drill at mine now....
you take the pink chair...
& i'll throw another log or three on the fire...
it seems to be pretty much lit all day & night now...& i love it!
our littlest is on the couch next to you...
all snuggled in knitted blankets & french bedsocks...
with a terrible cough & a very trusting loving little look...
so we'll not be talking christmas together today...you & i...
we'll be talking all things moroccan...

if we were really meeting for coffee...
i'd tell you that the moroccans are probably the most gentle people my husband, or i, have ever had the pleasure of meeting...
i'd tell you that marrakech is a city of colour...& flavour, where all your senses are touched constantly...
but it's also a city of peace & history & arabian charm...

if we were having a little glass of mulled wine together...being the festive countdown & all...
i'd tell you that within the medina walls...in the old city...that alcohol is forbidden...
so, for us, marrakech was also a bit of a retreat...
we ate well, we slept well in beautiful ancient ryiads within the walls of the old city...
& we drank mint tea...with every meal...

i should probably offer you a mint tea now...
as we bought a beautiful old silver teapot home from a wonderful elderly moroccan man in the marrakech souqs...
a teapot to share sugared moroccan mint tea with friends...
but this week...with a poorly little one...
& presents to wrap...
& snow to hang out in...
i'd like to just enjoy a christmas vino or two...

if we were really meeting for a christmas coffee, or a mulled wine...
i'd offer you my moroccan slippers to wear...
they are seriously delicious...
white leather with brown stitching...
& i'd tell you what it's like to ride a camel at the base of the stunning atlas mountains...
& we'd probably *google* a gorgeous *tangine* meal for NYE together...
i'd tell you that it was one of the most amazing places to visit on the planet...
but that next time we're taking the kiddos with us...

& then, because our little one needs to sleep this sickness outa her...
i'd hug you big...
put her to bed & catch up with you on line...
i don't want to...but she needs a snuggle with her mumma & her antibiotics our big safe bed...

so the tales of this magic city...
&
it's stunning surrounding mountains...
will be a tale for the new year...
one i shall love to share with you...
as morocco, & the city of marrakech, touched us in a life-changing way...
we feel better people for having had the experience...
this is the ultimate giving wonder of travel...that you feel more of a person for the experience...

so if i was truely walking you through the beautiful snow that is our winter white garden...
to our wooden front gate...
i would tell you that i wish you & your families a wonderful christmas day...
i would hold your hand a little tighter & thank you for being here for me, & with me, in this bloggy world...
& i would tell you- so you absolutely knew- that our time together is the perfect virtual christmas gift to share...
across the globe...in beautiful snow & in glorious sunshine...

i would hug you...
wish you a very happy christmas...
&
go back to snuggling our littlest one up stairs...
xxx

i'd just like to send an extra specially big hug from my home
to my dear friend * amy *
&
her beautiful family...
&
for me...is a constant source of inspiration
&
friendship

happy christmas gal!

  3. Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have SO been thinking about you and wondering how Marrakech was. It sounds AMAZING, fabulous photos - funny how knowing that you liked somewhere makes me really think that I want to go there too!!

So glad you had a fab time, sorry to hear that your little one is sick tho :(

We had a day in town today, seeing the Christmas lights, exploring Hamleys, eating Laduree macarons (cos they're for Christmas too you know!) and gazing in all the gorgeous Bond Street windows at the beautiful Christmas display...altho Selfridges was our favourite, their windows are just unbeatable.

And the snow.....EEEP!!!! Loving it this week now that I don't actually have to go out in it, except to play :)

    Hugs to you my friend,
    Simone xx

Your description of Marrakech...it sounds just wonderful, so much beauty and history...oh and i love those bags full of --rice? beans? spices? nuts?-I am just imagining how much fun it would be to be set loose there with your camera.
I hope your little one is feeling better soon before the holidays are officially here. I can't wait to hear all about your Holiday plans Melissa. Thanks for the mulled wine, you know I would never pass up the chance to sip mulled wine with you....and your sweet message. Glad you are back my friend!

  6. Hi Girlie! That was a wonderful
taste of Morocco!! What a dream
of a place and I LOVE that you
found the people to be so lovely
and gentle. So sorry that you have
a wee one under the weather. That's
just not fair this time of the year!!
I now have to add Marrakech to my
"bucket list," as they say here in
the States : ) Thank you for the virtual
    tea; steaming, minty and delicious.
May the rest of your week be filled with
    peace, joy and merriment!
    xx Suzanne

  10. Welcome back Melissa. You've been so missed and I was beginning to wonder if the snow had marooned you in wonderful Marrakech. It sounds as though you had such a special time away if your photos and descriptions are anything to go by. How amazing are those teapots! That's exactly the sort of souvenir I'd buy too. Hope little Audrey is back to her chirpy wee self soon. Have a fabulous Christmas one and all. Amanda xxx

  13. Oh, Miss Meliisa, what a wondrous time you had! I have been longing for word of your travels and can't wait to hear the next instalment. It's all so exotic to Hobart-bound me ☺.

I'm drinking some Australian bubbles with you now (my third glass and Mr PB is asleep in front of the telly) - I'm raising a toast to you with my left hand *now* while I type with my right hand!

Sending healing vibes for little Miss from summertime Australia to your snowbound kingdom ☺. J x
