a friday flower & making aussie kids in brisbane smile...

howdy...it's friday...
here in ol'blighty it's...to say the least....fresh!
invigorating is a word i'm learning to focus on...
one of the mothers at the school gate met me with a huge grin...rosy cheeks...babe in arms...
& asked me if there was anything "as invigorating as this kind of weather"...
who was i to tell her other wise...i'm trying to love her words of wisdom...!

it's friday...& that means a virtual friday flower to someone who has touched my week...
this week it has not been hard...i want to send this amazing woman a whole garden of flowers...
i'd not met her in blog land before today...but i am truely *blown away* by her ability to create & give...
the children of queensland, australia would give her a heart of flowers too if they knew what she has created...

* steph* from * mon petit poppet*
has set up an appeal to all, to help the *children* of queensland feel remembered...
a small reminder that they are not forgotten in this devastation...
many families are still in emergency shelters around brisbane...
their lives changed forever...
steph has set up the * hope softies * appeal to provide children who have lost everything...
children who are currently calling these emergency shelters *home* a little moment of hope...

she hopes "to provide a child in these shelters a small comfort and hope that people are rallying behind them....that the world is a good place..."
i know my 5 year old would find great comfort in a *hope softie* if we were in the situation so many queensland children currently are...
the fact that steph has recognised the small people in these devastated communities...
rings so well in my heart...
i want to hug her...& i'd never even read her blog until this week....!

so...steph please take my friday flower with the compassion in which it is given...
you are an inspiration & the children in these emergency shelters would hug you tightly if given the chance...
so would i...
so if you'd like to join me...& many others in creating a little moment of happiness & hope in the lives of the children of queensland australia...
please go visit steph & sign up...
the more givers.... the more joy for those families affected...

so these beautiful white tulips of hope are for you steph...
thank....from all us australian mums around the globe....xxx

so please visit steph and give an australian child a special bit of hope

  1. Yes Melissa, she is an amazing lady, to rally up people in Blogland to give some hope, love it! I posted too about it, the more people are reading and hopefully starting to stich a Hope Softie, the better. Mine is coming stich by stich, no machine yet, but I just spotted a good deal for coming Monday so maybe I can buy that one (if not sold out). Glad to see you received the Moroccon-Dutch little gift, enjoy it!
    Hugs, Maureen x

  2. I am blubbering into my keyboard as I type! What a gorgeous post you've written and I thank-you so much for not only your beautiful words but your kind offer to make a softie. It certainly is softie central here at my place and I'm over the moon about it!! What with a day of toddler teething yesterday I started to think I'd bitten off more than I can chew so thank-you for giving me the encouragement to keep forging ahead. It is so lovely to meet such a kindred spirit :) x x

  4. Ah, Miss Melissa, I'm so pleased you've found Steph and her huge heart. She's such a generous soul, all the time. Her tutorials are brilliant (thanks to her, the pixies have their play stove). And now she's come up trumps with this gorgeous idea. Good for you for publicising it, Sweetie. J x

  5. What lovely flowers and a great way to give thanks to a generous blogger. I didn't know either of you until now, I jumped over here from One Red Fox because my alter ego is Miss Sew & Sew in Peppermint magazine so your name caught my eye! There are other ways to help out too, the editor and I did a post on it here: http://peppermintmag.com/a-flood-of-kindness/
