ready for our lovely tuesday *catch-up*...
ready for tuesdays *a virtual coffee*...
so how are you all?
i'm frozen from my very brisk walk home through the village after school drop off...
well my hands & face are frozen...
but i did see many new shoots in the village gardens...
yep i sticky-beak all the way up & all the way home...
little green tops...ready to burst onto the scene & bring spring...
i tried to smile but my face was frozen...
i am happy though...
i love seasons...
i love the anticipation...
but to be honest i'd just love some heat...
hope you're not cursing me whilst sitting in sub degree temps as i whine on about blue skies & birds...
i know some of you are still in the thick of it all...
so...moving on from the weather...
{it's always such a talking point-isn't it....yawn}
if we were really meeting for coffee this morning...
i'd tell you that my lovely in-laws from oz are arriving this afternoon via a week in Rome...
i've a
today is all about ticking those boxes so i can just sit & pour the bubbles tonight & catch up...
so today i'm pretty much hoping you've bought your own take-away..
i'm not offering you the pink chair...nor a re-fill...
as i need to do a big food shop...
i need to keep moving today...
yep last minute..
food shop...
house tidy...
flowers bought kinda day...
ticking those boxes...
you understand....
but...before i dash off...through the countryside...list in hand...
i wanted to show you what my big gal made me for valentines day...
a white paper rose that she whittled...cut & sculptured out of a paper picnic plate...
it makes my heart smile...
i adore it...
she is just so effortlessly good at these sort of things...
honestly...i mean i feel pretty darn creative...
but to me a paper picnic plate is well...always just a picnic plate...
a beautiful sculptural rose...not from me...
but from her...loveliness...
she just approaches those things differently...
she has a very practical scientific side, thrown in with her creative-ness, from her father for good measure...
i'll have to show you the dolls house goodies we're making together...
quilts...cushions...curtains...
fabric i get...
paper picnic plates...i do not...
if we were really meeting for a coffee this morning...
i'd let you hold it for a bit...
i'd like you to sigh over it...
& be amazed by it's simple loveliness like i am...
but then i'd have to put it back on my desk...
i couldn't even begin to tell you how to make it...
i'd have to send you on your way with nothing...
i'm sorry...
it's not like me i know...
but today is about ticking those boxes...
in-laws arriving...
&
organising those bubbles for tonight...
happy tuesday
thanks for the coffee
i'll hang out with you next week
really catch up
maybe i'll even show you how to make a paper picnic plate rose
probably not
but i could show you a lovely pile of fabrics

I just love it here Melissa. Even if I didn't get the pink chair today. Your daughter is so clever...she obviously has that "eye" for delight. Hope you're having a great visit with your in-laws with lots of hugs all round. Meredy xo.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful and creative gesture..your heart must have gone flip flop! Hope you enjoy some quality family time with the inlaws.
ReplyDeletep.s Your print is on its way x
Wow Ella, you are very creative! I will now look different at a paper plate... lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd Melissa, I will not hold you up, know you're busy, enjoy the visit from your inlaws and thanks for showing your lovely creation, it's always so nice when kids make something themselves (btw, my photo was a close up from Zoe's art work, a keepsake).
Now, go and get those boxes ticked, hugs!
Maureen x
I smiled because
ReplyDeleteyour daughter and
mine have similar
sensibilities....
both artistic AND
scientific : ) Hope
you had a lovely
Valentine's Day! My
mom arrived yesterday
to help me with a
few projects that I've
stalled out on, so
I have a wonderful
week ahead of me. Hope
you made it to the
bubbles with your
list all checked off!
Happy Tuesday,
xx Suzanne
Aww so beautiful. Isn't it great getting something hand made from your loved ones? We made the hubby a birthday card yesterday and even though a few unmentionables somehow managed to get smeared on it (the girls have colds so you work it out), he loved it just the same... not quite a beautiful paper rose, but still lovely.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the in-laws ;-)Lx
Your girl should have her own blog! Enjoy the bubbles with family-a nice reward for all that list ticking. x
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty flower! Enjoy the lovely day, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteOkay, I absolutely love this post. What a sweet creative dear girl you have - bravo on the flower!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful visit with your in-laws and that you were able to have everything just so when they arrived.
Loving the new banner - sweet and simple and oh so pretty. Great photo my friend!
xx

ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet rose. I love creative gifts from the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time with your in-laws!
what a clever creation by your daughter...i just love it! what a talented little lady...hmmm, i wonder where she gets it from? ;)
ReplyDeleteThat flower is beautiful! I hope you get everything accomplished today.
ReplyDeleteFabric is good for me! I do love that rose though, so creative and beautiful. What a wonderful daughter you have there. Enjoy your time with your inlaws, rather you than me though! Don't overdo yourself as they came to see you, not your house. Have a super week!
ReplyDeleteI'd like some warmth too... and sunshine! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you made some headway with your list!
How exciting - do enjoy your bubbles! How beautiful is your flower - what a clever girl - to be treasured - both plate and girl.
ReplyDeleteHoping you have a super time with your visitors.

Ah, Miss Melissa, with such a crafty and enterprising Mum, she's following in your footsteps. Just gorgeous. I'll have to show Miss India. Now that bleak winter of yours seems to be going on forever! Enjoy your precious time with the in-laws. J x
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the in laws. I know I have an Australian friend who welcomes her husbands in laws from the UK every year into her home for a month or so. Its great that everyone can still catch up.
ReplyDeletetuck it under your hat honey ..
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous post! Your description of the freezing village with the green shoots popping up in garden beds made me think of The Secret Garden. My most loved book ever. x
ReplyDeleteHello sweet Melissa - what a treasure your eldest is - makes my heart ache. In a good way. I hope you got all your chores done - I too have a day like that to get through. Although no visitors later - just my self satisfaction! I have a to do list as long as my arm - but it's all about organisation isn't it? And did I tell you - the Christmas stockings are still hanging in their rooms - they loved them so much. I figure by June maybe I will be able to pack them away... Lou x
