a virtual coffee & a simple blackboard *how to* project...

bonjour....salut...comme ca?
i am doing year 7 french with miss.ella....
err...& german...math...shakespeare...blah blah blah...
so let's have our weekly coffee & if i throw in a little french...work with me....
we are both home on the couch...
ella & i...
with a virus of sorts...
so we've been waiting for you to get here...
pink chair yours as ususal...
it's virtual coffee time...

if we were really having a coffee today...
i would pop you on the gorgeous pink chair with a big pot of english tea...
a really big one to save me getting up too much...
i just can't do it today...but i still want you to feel cosy & happy here...
you can have the greek throw too...
it's still seriously chilly here in the english countryside...
blue sky...spring on it's way...sun shinning...but C.H.I.L.L.Y!
so wrapped in white greek gorgeous-ness...plonked on pink english loveliness...let's catch up...

if we really having a pot together today...
i'd get you to tell me what's happening at your end for a bit...
just so ella & i could sit & listen...
i'd want to know the weather at your end...
how your garden's growing...
if you've seen jaime's new show yet...*jaime's dream school* ...
yep monsieur.oliver...
i've tried but am sure i'll just indulge in the book when it comes out...
then i'd ask if you have any good one-pot big country stew recipes...
i have the meat...but not the energy...nor desire to cook anything that needs more than *a* pot...
the only thing i've been able to muster in the creative box today is a little blackboard making...

if we really had the lovely luxury of sharing a mug today...
i'd get up for a moment to go get the little pile of blackboards i have made...
they are too easy...
even someone who is finding it hard to get off the couch can manage these little beauties...
i A.D.O.R.E blackboards...
another vice...
if we were really having a catch-up today we'd have a giggle at that...
we could compare vice lists...
mine in no particular order...consists of vintage china...blackboards...typeset...wine...flowers...fabric & ebay...
but i DON'T smoke...so i'm feeling pretty righteous...!
anyhow....
back to the blackboards...

so as you sip...i'll chat...& you take notes...
you will love these...
ready...got a pen...
here's what you need...

*cheapie ikea frames {i used Rabket frames 10 x 15 cms}
*white house paint
*blackboard paint {or as i regularly do- black outdoor metal furniture paint}

i literally painted the piece of card in each frame...
& then backed them with the glass {behind rather than in front} to give the card some structure...
too easy...
perfect for poorly bored people laying around on a couch...

if we were really hanging out in our big ol'village house...
i'd send you home with a small pile of these...& your notes...
they are so simple...
& everything comes in threes at ikea...
& they are soo cheap i can never just buy one pack of ANYTHING shopping there...

...so all the kiddos have new blackboard signs for their bedroom doors...

...for a very small outlay in terms of both £'s & energy...

so if we were having a lookie at these...over a pot of tea...
i'd fill your basket & send you home with a little metal furniture paint in an old jam jar...
to make little simple blackboards...
i'm sure you'd like that...
maybe...before you go...i'd also ask you to pick up the kids...
it's just a walk through the village...
& they're really nice kids...
they'd take you to the sweet shoppe...up in the village...
i'd give you a pound...they have 1p sweets...so you can choose your own bag full...
just like the old days....

& just one more thing...
when miss.ella & i popped out to the chemist...
we had to pass a funny little shop...
run by sweet little old ladies having tea & pottering around with old things...
this shop doesn't even have a name...it's like a little hole in the wall...
it doesn't smell as sweet as the village perfumery {yep we really have one of those!}...
but it does hold some hidden gems...
ella & i went in with £2 & come out with change & these special things....ahhhh....
happy days...

...for miss.ella's room...
...60 pence of perfection...
...a hand mirror...
&

...pour moi...
...30 pence of blue & white english perfection...
....oui...oui...*happy days*...

the cheapo ikea frames- yours
but these little gems
i'll be checking your basket for
even if you do pick up the kiddos!

thanks for sharing a pot
ella & i really needed the company
we were feeling a little sorry for ourselves
&
we almost resorted to bad *day-time* tv
so
big hugs & here's your stash
frames
paint
friendship
...see you next week....

xox

as usual go slurp another cup of something hot with our gorgeous
*virtual coffee* host amy here
&
this week i'm also linking up with the inspirational sarah from my hometown down under
for  * a good life wednesday* here

10 photographs of your day for 10 consecutive hours on the 10th day of the month

    to put it?? Well, I
    have a spot all picked

  2. Melissa, you're such a dag! What a great post...and what a great mirror...I want one! I hope you and your daughter are feeling better. I had a dose of food poisoning a few days ago...oh god I've never felt so bad! I hate being sick and to make matters worse I had a load of Aussies arriving at 5.45 am at Heathrow. Poor hubby had to go and pick them up and when they got here I promptly handed them my car keys and pointed them in the direction of the shopping centre...they did eventually find their way back! However, my 'cast iron gut' is back to normal now and we're off to London tomorrow! Robx
p.s. you should do a big blackboard for your kitchen wall!

  3. I do enjoy having coffee at your house each week. Actually it's the only time I do have a coffee funnily enough! Loving your sweet purchases. I love blue and white stripes on kitchenware. I have a plate and mug similar.

I'd love to pick up your darlings after school. The idea of a bag of sweets is very exciting. You must forgive me for sneezing all over the place right now. Not sure if it's hayfever or a cold. But I do know that you are feeling so much worse than I and I so hope that tomorrow is a better day for you and your little Ella. Love to you both. Sarah xx

  4. Oh lovelies, let me make you another pot of tea, some lemon with it? Poor you two, and still energy to make something creative! Ella honey, big hug from me and Noa and for your mum too, take your rest, and ofcourse I will pick up the other two kiddo's, but I first have to take a little stroll at that lovely whole in the wall store, it sounds so good! (and yes, you may check my bag, nothing in there that doesn't belong there...oops, sorry was that yours....)

big hugs from my house to yours Melissa,
hope you will feel better soon!

  8. Ah, Miss Melissa, do you also serve up a steaming cup of jot chocolate? I'm a no coffee or tea girl. Loving your creativity, even in the middle of feeling poorly. Funny - I eyed off a blackboard for the kitchen today at $20. Then remembered we have blackboard paint at home so we may make our own. Sadly, we don't have IKEA down here. Sigh. I'll have to just admire yours from afar. J x

  14. Ha ha, I love your "but I don't smoke" excuse! I frequently use the fact that I don't smoke or drink coffee as the perfect excuse to get up to whatever kind of vice-entrenched mischief I can :)
