a virtual coffee & old London town...vintage inspiration...

hello lovelies...
we are back from a gorgeous jaunt to old London town...
i feel like i've had a mini holiday...
the sun was HOT...
London was as heavenly as always...
& the cousins made more memories together...

i've missed my virtual coffee with you whilst in London...
so let's share a glass of elderflower & mineral water & catchup...
righto...
a seat in the garden...
face up to the glorious sunshine...
& tell me how you are?
have the seasons changed for you?
we are having STUNNING spring weather...
we romped round Buckingham Palace & the like in tee's & birky's...
we cruised round London streets in the big ol'open topped red bus in sunscreen & hats...
L.O.V.E.L.Y!!

if we were really catching up for an elderflower or two in the garden today...
i would show you all my i-phone photos...
i didn't use my camera once...
even though i adore her & indeed did drag her to London, i totally relied on my i-phone...
how cool is that...
i think i'm a photo app junkie...a very happy one...

if we were really catching up...
i'd so talk you into visiting London with you kiddos if the chance ever came up...
kids are brilliant travelling & exploring a city with a bit of history thrown in...
& London has it in spades...
St.Paul's...
Mary Poppins...
Big Ben...
&
of course this week all the wedding hoopla at Buckingham Palace...

they were loving it & i was in my element...
my gorgeous family
&
my brothers gorgeous family...
together sunning it in London...
aussie kids in deep in english history...

another glass...?
keep your face up in the sun...i'll pour sweets...
so...aside from the history & the gorgeous making of memories...
there was of course mountains of inspiration for me...
i now need me a bar & some lampshade glamour somewhere in my life....!

i need these two shops somewhere down my high street...

& i need to work out how to get this shop, exactly as it is, home to australia, in yet another crate when we leave...
Mr All Sorts...i could hardly bare it!

so...my sweet blogging friends...
finish up your elderflower & head up to our village fruit shop...
buy yourselves some spring flowers
&
go sit on the Green watching english life go by...
i'm heading up for blooms later...
i have a wedding-6th-birthday party to prepare for...

...hope i've tempted you to add London to your must-see-the-world-with-the-kiddos-list...
if we'd really caught up today
i would have sent you home with a little Buckingham Palace snow dome
...one can never have to much kitsch on the eve of a Royal Wedding...

&
remember, when you've finished on the Green, head over to my gorgeous friends Amy's for more
virtual catching-up *here*
...it's so lovely to see you all...
&
thankyou for the wonderful comments & thoughts over the last week
i'll be getting back to you all between looking after the visiting aussies
&
party planning {again}
xox

  7. Great photos Melissa and those lucky Aussies! I'm sure they don't realise how lucky they are to spring (no pun intended) such terrific but totally unexpected weather. Also I need you to 'cough up' exactly where Mr. All Sorts is located as I think I need to visit!! Have a great party, Robx

  8. Oh, London is on my bucket list. Well, most of England is on my bucket list. My husband is an enormous fan of Top Gear and I'd love to go to a taping. He'd freak out!

Those pictures were lovely. Makes me want to speed up the need to travel more.

  9. Oh Melissa, there could be no better tour guide of London than you and these lovely photos. (oh yes I'm an iPhone photo app girl myself as you well know!)
I could come and help you pack up Mr AllSorts.
Pleased you all had such a great visit. xx

  10. Loved looking at those photos of London....and all from your iphone - pretty impressive.
Those kiddos are going to have a heap of amazing memories from your time in England aren't they. A friend of mine took her kids to the big city last week to show them Westminster Abbey and all the flags on the streets so that when they see the wedding on the TV they know where everything is taking place. Yours will be able to do the same. I MUST make time to get to London to see the sights not just drive through on my next trip home.

  21. Oh, how lovely! Do you know that my dad comes from London and I've *never* been?! Haven't even been to Great Britain. Seems wrong, right? Your post makes want to go :)

  22. Your photos are just stunning! The memories you are all making together will last your entire lifetimes! I love visiting London, so much to see and do! If feels like you are walking around IN a movie at times! So many places that you feel you KNOW because the images of them are so familiar.... it will be so significant to the children later in life to know they visited at such a HISTORIC time... I said to my daughter .... you realize that as you grow up, you will watch Cate and William's children grow up, like we watched William and Harry grow up.... it is just so amazing! It was such a pleasure to watch the fairytale wedding wasn't it?! I so hope they live happily ever after! I also hope you had a magical and memorable 6th birthday party too! X

  24. Hi there Mrs M
Hope your sweet little Audrey had a right royal birthday party. What a great day to celebrate your 6th! We even managed to roll out the red, white and blue here in NJ and toast the happy couple. I can't imagine what the atmosphere was like on the run up to the royal wedding. It must have been amazing and a once in a life time experience. I've got to say, now it's all died down, I feel a little flat, as though we were all part of a wonderful celebration and now it's over and we have to pick up with our day to day lives. I can't wait to see how you celebrated. Much love! Lx
P.s. I met a fellow Oz mum in the park, she told me how she desperately misses Australia and the Sydney beaches... I thought of you!

  25. Wow, great shots of my home town! I reluctantly have to admit the iphone pix come out a treat but I still cannot admit this to my iphone obsessed hubbie and will continue to take my Canon with me everywhere I go in protest!
I'm dying to see some shots from your wedding party...I'm sure you have some! I had the best time here, sat on the sofa flicking between channel 7 and abc, roast pork with yorkshire puddings and a glass of bubbles and blubbed the whole way through much to the amusement of my family.

  26. Lou's quite right....I LOVED your photos, very cool and so much fun to hear what you did in London :)

I drove across the Thames tonight as I have done 100s of times in my life, the view never fails to make me happy, who could ever tire of it. St Paul's Cathedral is one of my favourite views ever.

How lovely to have seen so much of your family recently :)

Enjoy the birthday planning :) xx

  27. Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was super
long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly
enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I'm still new to everything. Do you have any suggestions for rookie blog writers? I'd genuinely appreciate it.
