a leetle french gardening on the beaches...

g'day from Down Under sweet bloggy gals...with a leetle french garden twist...!

my day of ignoring cardboard boxes has been just what i needed...

hanging out with the kiddos- getting them a little more organised with school...& bedrooms...&

enjoying nothing time back in our little beach house was just what we all needed...

so...last night, after no unpacking & lugging for the day, i had a little play around with some

of the bits i had re-discovered on Monday...

{when my *blessed* mother had come & thrown her *motherly* authority around, and

made me lunch & helped me pack my kitchen into cupboards...}

i am really in need of the fun part now...but the boxes are still there...

even with half of them gone it looks a little to much to be dealing with on a gorgeous *end-of-summer*

day on the beaches...so i'm playing for a while instead...

back balcony & front balcony...

our little beach house has two balcony's-which means the breeze is always on one or the other in

summer, & it's always calm & outa the wind on one or the other in winter...

this was one of the reasons the hubster fell in love with it, when searching for our bit of beach life when

we added the third little bambino to our family...

he pretty much sits out on the front balcony every evening, glass of wine in hand, just looking out at the

beautiful trees that surround our house...enjoying the breeze...

a natural breeze beats a fan burring in the background hands down...as does the feeling of space a

balcony brings to both sides of the house...

so i'm spending a little of my day playing on the front balcony with french bits...

chippy chairs...old tin pailings...herbs...a passionfruit vine...a pot of tea...sunshine...

we have a little *hidden away* garden nursery not far from us, that i'll be visiting for a few pots

of lavender this week...

i'm thinking, as this front balcony gets so much gorgeous morning sun- that herbs & lavender are perfect

to plonk in french pots dragged back from old brocantes during a french *road trip* we loved with the

kiddos...

what d'ya think?

dented tin french buckets, chippy chairs & a leetle bit of french inspired gardening...

many of you sent me lovely emails & comments about the *lushness* of our garden...

& in fact, many of you were surprised at just how green & tropical it is...& yes, for those that asked...i'd

love to do a tour of our garden very soon...

in comparison to our back garden, thick & lush, our front is drier in area's & perfect for herbs & lavender

so i'm going to enjoy the differences...

we're also planning to take out the lovely old playhouse timber cubby house that has seen better days in

the back corner of the garden to put in a wonderful big vege garden- inspired by my B.B's wonderful

garden back in our English village...

i'll be keeping you posted & asking for much advice along the way...

bloggy galfriends that also garden get ready for my...i'm gonna be on a steep learning curve!

happy potting at yours

gardening with chippy chairs is my kinda thing!

see ya tomorrow with my next box of goodies...

  2. J'adore the pails, chippy chairs, umbrella.....everything! It all looks so calming and the way you describe your verandas, I think I felt the breeze too! We have the same sort of mother. Mine has been here today cracking the whip. Good Lord, I feel about 15 again! M xo

  3. We have a Winter deck and Summer deck as well. North & South. I'm loving watching you settle back into Sydney and a tour of your garden would be great. From the glimpses I've seen it looks delightful.

  7. I like this look...I'm trying at the moment, I have a similar chair but no peeling paint, so not quite as awesome looking, and instead of buckets its a new vintage tin watering can. and lavender!

  10. Love your chippy paint style.
How do you make it all look so effortlessly stylish?
Our front verandah/deck is horrible concrete and needs a serious (budget!!) makeover!!
    Maybe you can inspire me?!
We (read hubby!) are also planning to add a vegie patch up the back next to the new chook yard, so maybe we can stumble our way through this gardening venture together.

  11. Ooooh... I love me some gardening! Here in the hills of Perth we have suitable weather for most things - if they're a tad delicate then extra water is a must but apart from that I think we Aussies are pretty luck hey? I mean as opposed to Dubai or some such... wouldn't have a clue what to plant there! Oh and by the way... those buckets are drool worthy! Have a great one!

  12. Hi Melissa!
Gosh, unpacking so many boxes.....mmmh, I know it all too well, but I also know that every distraction is a welcome one, so hopefully reading comments will cheer you up and give you a tiny break from the boxes.
Getting back home or a new country is lovely yet tiring isn't? Are the kids all settled in? I heard from N. that E. has much fun with Lola (btw, if we leave here a dog is being promised to the girls, and I want some chickens, don't ask why, I don't know myself....hahaha, just to much motherly feeling I guess). Anyhoo, all is still ok here but I'm getting very impatient, so I started, slowly but surely, to get this place into shape for when it's time to hit the road again.... (I'm willing my thoughts to the universe....beach, sun, nice cottage....you know what I like).
Anyhoo 2, long comment, hope you get your head in the last summer sun, and if you want to hit me (us) with some more beach photo's, you know that is always much appreciated! Enjoy the french and British goodies and we talk soon again, big hugs, from me to you love,
    Maureen xx
