old vintage chippy chests & lotsa kiddos...

morning all...
i am tucked up in bed before venturing down to the many kiddos & the breaky hour...
i was just thinking how, amongst the lovely business & major organisation pleasure of feeding & then moving 8 people through the days chosen events...
that it's vital just very special to have a little moment to oneself...creating...
bringing you back to a moment of a regular day...

so alongside our daily adventures with sandy sun-kissed cousins...i have sanded & moved an old chest...

a chest that was swapped for vintage bunting...
a chest that will hold my cups of tea, glasses of mulled wine & my treasured christmas cookbooks & magazines...
a chest that will sit in front of our fire as the weather gets cooler & i plan for christmas...

like so many of you...i constantly regularly need to move a room around...
or i love to add some changes alongside the changes in season...
with a lovely chaotic full house...this is about as big as the moving around & sanding's gonna get!

...just thought i'd share a little moment of me with you special bloggy friends...
...breakfast down stairs is getting louder as i type...
&
...we have an adventure to the birthplace of the beautiful Beatrix Potter books today...
...the gorgeous Lake District & Miss Potter are waiting for 5 very happy kiddos...
...see you soon...
x

p.s - do you remember this chest enjoyed by my gorgeous kiddos in *10 on 10*?

I continually move things around my rooms - too much probably! Have been doing a lot of that in my daytimes alone at home LOL!

Have been thinking of you this week and wondering how you were doing with your visitors? The Lake District is so beautiful, it's been years since I visited, have a wonderful time.

Wow, I think you are doing very well, blogging, sanding and having a house full! Enjoy the day, love to hear how it was, and yes, I would love to have that herbal tea together one day, maybe I can hop over the canal next year. My family are on their way now to stay with us, so in a couple of hours my house will be filled with cousins too! Big hugs, Maureen

  13. what wonderful plans for your beautiful weather chest! hope you enjoyed your outing too. my English Nana gave me a collection of Beatrix Potter books when I was a little girl and they still sit on shelves in my childrens rooms. The illustrations are my favorite of all children's books.

  15. I have always had a very special place in my heart for old chests like this. When I was a little girl, I found the first photo (my first glimpse) of the mother I still don't know in my great-grandmother's trunk. I have that photo of her when she was a little girl. Still, she is an enigma to me...

  19. Hello Melissa
That's such a gorgeous chest you found and it will look wonderful by the fireside!

I wish I could tag along with you to the Lake district where Beatrix was inspired to write her beautiful stories.
I have a lovely book that I look at often called "Beatrix Potter A Journal" and it has her drawings, old letters, photo albums, a map of the lake district and at the back her privately printed edition of "The Tale of Peter Rabbit".

If you're a fan it's a beautiful book to have.
    I love your blog!
Please do come and visit me and I'll get out my prettiest teacups and make you very welcom!
We could even have some camomile tea!!
    Take care
    Shane

  24. Love the chest! Is it beside your bed right now? And I need to know what that fabulous picture is hanging above it. Are those your kiddos and then a design above it? I'm so intrigued!

Enjoy your company...and your quiet time.
