2011's first virtual coffee & friendship with a travelling cupcake...

oh it feel so good to be back here...tucked up in bed ready for our virtual coffee...
tonight it's an *in-our-jammies*...tea in mugs...legs crossed on the bed kinda catchup...
i've been on some sort of *absent-endless-christmas-NewYear-feasting-house-full-of-people* treadmill...
for what seems like weeks...
then i got on the *drag-the-tree-and-it's-million-bloody-dropping-needles-outa-the-house-and-vacumn-anything-not-tied-down* manic treadmill
& now...
it feels sooo good to s.t.o.p & to be here...mug balancing on the *doona* with you...
just catching up...

so lovely friends if we were really meeting for coffee...i would give you the hugest damn hug of 2011...
i really would...it's been a long time since we last hung out like this...december 24th to be exact...
i know we've all been needing to *balance* less over the festive period...
but i've missed being here together...
i'm just not one of those *fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants* kinda blogging gals...
i need the mental, emotional & physical space to write & read & create & share here...
i love it too much to not give it my all....

so if we were really meeting for a night time *smakeral* of something...in our jammies...
i would of course ask after your christmas...& your new year...
i would tell you that i've really tried to visit everyone...but us aussies don't get too many *white* christmases...
& well...this was a seriously story-book white christmas with sledding, icicles & all for us here in ol'blighty...
the coldest & whitest for 100 odd years it seems...
so it was hard to sit indoors after wrapping & shopping & cooking- the kiddos were in their element...
& the apple {as loved as any laptop could possibly be} only got a little look in to upload more amazing snow photos...
then it just sat patiently waiting & looking cool on it's own...

anyhoo...the other reason i really needed this virtual catchup {that we love together} is...
i want you to share in a little *round-the-world* blog friendship with me for 2011...
so drink up your tea...
get cosy under that knitted blanky on the end of my big ol'bed...
& let me tell you the tale of *Cuppie*...

a lovely bloggy friend  Diana, who writes the gorgeous blog that is One Crafty Fox, has sent a wee little *cupcake* out into the big wide world...
a roaming cupcake experiencing life via the friendship of blogging...
*cuppie* came to us from another wonderful blog friend whom i'm sure many of you know Deb from the blog that is Let's go Moerkabout...
from Deb's outback adventures in the gorgeous australian sunshine *Cuppie* spent christmas with us...
she got snowed in...
she waited for the big guy himself in front of our open fire...
she saw the baking of a seriously great turkey...
she took a bus ride like no other...
&
then she looked like my kids when i've gone *on* to long...
she looked ready to *leave the room* for some new place...

that's where you guys come in...
if were really meeting for a late night tea & toast...
you know chewing the post-christmas fat together...
i would ask you to be that new place for our little cupcake...
my daughter ella helped bring the cupcake here from australia...
& in doing that she learnt about my dear blogging friends above...
as i said it's a little *cupcake of friendship* travelling the world...
following* her* travels worldwide together brings people into contact...
it introduces blog friends to new blog friends...
it's 2011 so do something lovely for a travelling gypsy cupcake...
invite her to yours...

if we were really meeting for coffee...jammies & toast crums...knitted blankets...late night stories & all...
i think i'd pop her in your pocket to take back to yours...
all you need to do with her is snap a few lovely pickies of her hanging out in your part of the world...
share your blog with us & all her followers...
&
pass her on...

i know i didn't give you the *pink chair* this week in front of the fire...
i know i didn't offer you exotic mince pies or fruitcake & bubbles...
i know that this virtual *catch-up* is a little on the *slumber-party* & slippers side...
but it's about all i can muster till i finish getting this place completely organised for 2011...
anyway if i can't hang out in my post-christmas jammies with you guys, it's not saying much for our friendship is it...!

so...before i tuck myself in...& flick off the light...
before i empty the bed of teapots & crumbs...
i just want to thank my dear sweet friend Amy from Lucky number 13 for hosting the first virtual coffee of the new year at the end of my bed...
&
i {also} just want to say...
it's nothing short of lovely to be back...
i've missed you guys...
happy 2011

xxx

  10. It's so lovely to see a post from you Melissa. Glad you've got back into the groove so quickly...I'm still floundering around in lethargic holiday mode and trying to shake the only cold I've had in about three years! I'm glad Cuppie got to see a white Christmas. I had her before Deb and I think it's the most fantastic idea. All the best to you and your lovely family for 2011 and I look forward to coming along on the ride :)

  11. All is right with the world if you are back with a cuppa tea in hand! Lovely to catch up and I am delighted the weather gods delivered you snow for Christmas! We are too far South and it all melted - well pretty much. I would have loved to go sledding on Christmas Day; that would have really floated my snow-covered boat ;-). Missed you though - you are a regular visit of sanity for me so welcome back to blogland. Lou xx

  13. Happy New Year! I feel the same: I get a bit antsy if I haven't had time to read the old blog list in a while.

PS: I love the picture of the snowy boat!

  14. Melissa, I honestly couldn't face another mince pie at the moment...I've now moved onto the hot cross buns which (unbelievably) are already in the supermarket! Today I am eyeing off the xmas tree which is still sitting in my lounge...it's one of my unfavourite jobs putting all that away...might get to it tomorrow...rather blog instead! Robx

  15. I love that picture of the snowy boat!!!

I love the cupcake idea! My daughter had a Flat Stanley visit us. (Do you know Flat Stanley? He's a children's book character.) Anyway, he visited us and went to some super neat-o places and then took a trip to sunny Florida to visit some of our family for the holidays.

Thanks for coffee. I love slumber parties. I probably would have brought soda and pizza to eat after we'd drank all the coffee. :)

  20. Welcome back, Melissa!
    I've been down with flu
for nine days, so it was
    lovely to cozy up with
    your knitted throws, tea
    and toast and get caught
    up! If Cuppie feels up
    to the journey and doesn't
    mind sub-zero temps, she
    is most warmly welcome at
    our home this winter!!
    Stay toasty and enjoy this
    weekend ~ inside or out.
    xx Suzanne
