*friday pretties* & vintage bottles...

what to do after a trip to stock up the house for the week...
make a cup of tea & play with flowers & old bottles...
indulge in some *friday pretties*...

why does supermarket shopping so go against the grain of a lovely day...?
i mean...we're buying good produce to make good food for our families...
we're planning times together as we think through the weeks needs...
quite simply- i think, no matter how many good things a weekly shop can produce, it's still fundamentally goes against the grain of *good-old-fashioned-shopping*...
there's no interaction with the people who provide the produce...
there's too many lights & not enough windows...
& even if some days it doesn't over whelm me...i still say it does as i'm against buying everything under one roof in principle...!

living in a village, heading up our little high street means i must walk past the same shops each & everyday...
because of this, i want to use the local butcher...& the local baker...
i just couldn't pass them by & buy our meat & bread else where...
but...
i can throw some supermarket bunches of blooms in...
i have no qualms about windowless over-lighted places providing me with blooms like these delphiniums...AT ALL...
it makes going there a whole lot easier...
it's my little friday indulgence...

a cup of tea...& playing around with flowers & collected bottles...
& photographing the playing...
you've seen it a bit before here here...

blue is my absolute *fave & best* colour...
it's the oceans...the sky...the beach...
for me...it's all the things nature does best...
with a good dallop of white it reminds me of a summer's day in sydney...always...

stuck around the place in collected old bottles...
it reminds me of our travels abroad...
bottles & memories of england...france...rome & greece...
i do love me some old bottles...

indulging in flowers...
also gives me a chance to stop during the day & to indulge in my photography...
i'm loving this more & more...
we have a huge collection of wonderful photos of our life in england & our travels...
family photos of places & times that we don't want the children to forget...
but i've also discovered that my love of photography grows when i photograph nothing moments...
i share them here...but rarely would i frame one...or even come back to it the way i do over out travelling photos...
but i love the challenge...

friday pretties
over a cup of tea
...with a camera & a love of the small, nothing moments in my day...

happy friday

xox

  10. Vintage bottles are above and beyond the best ways to display flowers - those and jam jars! Your flowers look absolutely beautiful, and it has to be said, supermarket flowers do tend to last extremely well. I agree about the supermarket - there is nothing worse than the 'everything under one roof' concept, and we're currently trying to find ways to buy everything from independent traders. In a town where there is no butcher or baker, though, this is proving quite a challenge!

  11. I like your artful arrangement of flowers and bottles.
I try to frequent the local produce stand instead of the chain grocery store (friendlier employees, tastier selection, puts money back into local economy, and stand is outside away from flourescent lighting)

  14. Brunnel is worried everytime the courier drops off another of my ebay parcels - yes more old bottles or old jars. He just doesn't quite get it. But as you know they are just so lovely in the most simple way, and I get such a thrill out of them. Small things amusing my small mind!

  18. Very beneficial info, I have constantly chosen laser printers since they are much less pricey
to utilize, as soon as you make the preliminary investment.
Toner cartrages are a lot more pricey but outlast numerous many inkjet cartrages and are much less messy to utilize.
You could set your laser printer to print
in grayscale and use much less of the colour toner, I only utilize color
    when printing images.
